Payload

The objective of SRMSAT is to monitor green house gases in Near Infrared region 900nm - 1700nm. A grating spectrometer is employed for the monitoring of Earth-based sources and sinks of anthropogenic and natural sources of greenhouse gases.

Fig.2 indicates the methodology for extracting data from the SRMSAT payload for data-analysis. The parameters such as albedo, aerosol and radiosonde data, whilst considering the other parameters have been used to create a database and are used as a look-up table for the final SRMSAT data extraction. This will give the integrated CO2 and H2O over a certain region. The operation of the payload is defined by a boundary algorithm. These are latitude, longitude values that are stored on-board, within which scanning will take place. The boundary can be modified using a telecommand from the ground station.
